Close collaboration with the University of Bologna Museum System and the use of metaFAD software enabled the development of a cataloguing system capable of accommodating databases managed in previous applications and facilitating the description and consultation of additional heritage resources.
More specifically, the metaFAD system supports catalogue management dynamics through the integration of administrator user access with the University's authentication system and with tools both for exporting to SIGECweb (the General Information System of the National Catalogue) and for exporting Linked Open Data (LOD) in XML format.
The project made public access to museum catalogues and collections possible in an open environment beyond the university network and where the use of digital objects associated with catalogue records uses an IIIF viewer, the international standard for image sharing.
