The Digital Library contains the vast collection of resources belonging to the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Roma. This very extensive library catalogue is divided into six sections which range from ancient manuscripts and archives on significant persons through to the music collection and the national newspaper library.
The platform is designed to facilitate the management and interoperability of the different library collections, as well as the online consultation needs of users. The digital library was created thanks to the customised implementation of the Museo&Web CMS software integrated with metaFAD software components.
The platform guarantees efficient visibility and broad accessibility of the historical and modern collections. The main projects include the digitisation of the incunabula of the Biblioteca del Monastero di Santa Scolastica belonging to the Polonsky Foundation, the library collections of the Unione delle Comunità Ebraiche Italiane, UCEI repository and the Spazi ‘900 section with rooms and thematic itineraries dedicated to 20th century Italian authors.
