Polo digitale degli Istituti culturali di Napoli

Centralised access to the art collections and document archives of five prestigious cultural institutions

Naples’ documentary heritage united in a single hub

The Polo Digitale di Napoli is an innovative solution that centralises the cataloguing, publication and accessibility of the cultural heritage preserved in five prestigious historical institutions in Naples: the Royal Chapel of the Treasure of St. Januarius, Biblioteca Benedetto Croce, the Italian Institute for Historical Studies, Pio Monte della Misericordia and Società Napoletana di Storia Patria.
Developed with the open source
metaFAD system, the portal is managed on a multi-tenant basis with each institute managing its own catalogue with the support of the ICCD, EAD, EAC, SBN, MODS and TEI-MS standards and sharing common resources (authority files and dictionaries). The public access environment is unified and hosts, in various collections, more than 600,000 catalogue resources and images related to the three managed catalogue domains - art-history, archival, library.

The system includes modules for the management of
Linked Open Data, Digital Asset Management and an e-commerce application for administering image licenses and related purchase applications.
